Cheryl’s Favorite Burger: Rose’s On Reeds Lake

Cheryl’s Favorite Art Gallery: LaFontsee Galleries
A leader in the West Michigan art scene for the past twenty years, the gallery has achieved several awards and national recognition for exceptional artwork, progressive ideas, and innovative programming. LaFontsee Galleries/Underground Studio currently carries over fifty artists, the goal being not only to sell artwork but to facilitate an understanding and appreciation for it as well.
Building on the strength of a solid partnership, Scott and Linda LaFontsee founded the Underground Studio in 1987. Over the years, they established themselves as forerunners of the emerging art culture in West Michigan, expanding their vision in 1994 by developing LaFontsee Galleries. Today, LaFontsee Galleries/Underground Studio encompasses two floors and 18,000 square feet of a renovated riverfront warehouse in the Monroe North Business district. With a welcoming, open environment, the gallery is devoted to personal service and fine regional, national, and international art with a soul.
Through a fervent dedication to promoting the arts, the gallery contributes considerable time, energy, and resources to various community events and non-profit organizations including the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts, Frey Foundation, Gilda’s Club, Nokomis Foundation, Very Special Arts, and God’s Kitchen. Cheryl’s Favorite Custom Jeweler: Metal Art Studio
Since 1990, Scott Carey has been the principal jewelry designer behind the MetalArt Studio name. Scott’s custom and one-of-a-kind designs are clean, contemporary, balanced and comfortable.
All of MetalArt Studio’s jewelry is designed and produced in-house, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Cheryl’s Favorite Children’s Gym – We motivate kids to try new experiences and discover how it feels to succeed. When kids come here, they may never have scaled a rock wall, done a back flip. or walked along the high beam. But when we show them, step-by-step, how to overcome challenges, they try. And try again. It may take awhile to figure out, but we always reassure them that’s okay. When they do progress, they feel great. And they’re more prepared for the next challenge they meet.
Cheryl’s Favorite and Greatest 5K Ever! – Help Fight Scleroderma Foundation. This year’s race will be held on Saturday, October 3rd at 10:00am. After a very positive response from last year’s event, we will repeat the same course at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids. As always, we will have long sleeve technical shirts to the first 300 registrants and a post race party with live music, food, and beverages for everyone. Additions to this years event include a stroller division for all you parents, a walker’s course, and added prizes.

Cheryl’s Favorite Dentist – Dr. Juli Wemmer and Dr. Jon Feinauer practice dentistry in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Their practice is now named Stonecastle Dentistry and is located at 455 Cherry SE, in vibrant Heritage Hill. Dr. Wemmer has been practicing dentistry in Grand Rapids since 1978. She earned a bachelors degree in psychology from Miami University and a doctorate from the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Wemmer received a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in recognition of her accomplishments in continuing education. Dr. Feinauer joined Stonecastle Dentistry in 2008 on his graduation from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

Cheryl’s Favorite Organization to Support – C-SNIP is a non-profit, charitable organization, providing high quality, high volume, low cost spay/neuter surgery for dogs and cats whose caretakers cannot pay the fee at a full service veterinary clinic. It’s a sad fact that there are more dogs and cats born every day than there are homes to accept them. Pet sterilization is THE solution to a problem that drains communities both emotionally and financially. Until every dog and cat born is assured of a safe and caring home, this essential surgery must be available to everyone. C-SNIP is making that happen by providing pet owners with a spay/neuter clinic whose prices they can afford.
